Public Must Be Involved In Nanotech Policy Debate Demands Groundbreaking (redOrbit)
Decision-making on science – especially emerging technologies such as nanotechnology – must become more democratic, a new report on science policy released today argues.I read this article at Nanowerk and was more than excited to share it with everyone! Basically, it states that a nano company, Natcore, is starting research with Rice University in the production of what they call tandem solar cells.
Using a technology incorporating silicon quantum dots, they will be working to “double the power output of current silicon solar cell technology.”
Looking to get this commercialized, the entire goal is geared towards making stand-alone solar energy competitive with conventional power generation. I would say that this is fantastic news, the sooner we can reduce our consumption, the sooner we can all get closer to being balanced globally.
